This interactive mobile workshop introduces parks and recreation professionals to the public private park partnership model through a walking tour of the most active sections of Central Park. Ideally suited for parks and recreation professionals in the early stages of developing a public private park partnership for their own parks, the tour will share Park history and the creation of the Central Park Conservancy, the private, nonprofit managing Central Park in partnership with the City of New York. By the end of the workshop, participants will have: 1) reviewed definitions of public private park partnerships and other park stewardship models; 2) reviewed principles for the successful partnership between the Central Park Conservancy and the City of New York; and 3) explored management and operations strategies to maintain Central Park.
