New Nominees for the NYSRPS Executive Board

VP Professional Development: Peggy Kenyon, Town of Manlius (uncontested) See Acceptance Form and Resume

Brief Bio:

I have worked in the recreation field for 25 years. I still love my job because it is ever changing, stays relevant, interesting and important by helping to improve the quality of people's lives. I have been the Director of Recreation at the Town of Manlius for the last 8 years and I feel lucky to deal with some great fellow professionals in our collaborative special events and many terrific coaches, instructors and staff for our programs. Recreation really is about the people and I'm happy to still be a part of it. I have served on many conference committees and on the CNYRPS Executive Board.

Goals for the Society and/or Society Philosophy:

I am looking forward to being involved with the New York State Recreation and Park Society at the executive board level. I hold all those who have been on the board in very high regard. I would like to continue the work of the board in offering quality programs for professionals to obtain CEU's and to learn more about this great field that we work in. I think it is important for professionals to network and share their stories and ideas with fellow professionals. It is also important to continue to stay abreast of new ideas and technology as it is ever changing. I feel that it is a very important role of this society and board to offer the places and resources for professionals to do just that.

Region III Representative: Nick Berlin, Perinton Recreation and Parks Department (uncontested) See Acceptance Form and Resume

Brief Bio:

After graduating from SUNY Brockport's Recreation and Leisure program in 2009 I spent time working for Victor Parks and Recreation as well as Sweden Clarkson Recreation before landing at Ogden Parks and Recreation for almost 8 years. Starting in August 2018 I began my new position as Assistant Recreation Director for Perinton Recreation and Parks. Over the last 10 years I have served with GVRPS in many different capacities. Starting by working on program and conference planning committees, I also served as Member at Large in 2016-2017, President-Elect in 2017-2018, and I'm currently serving as President in 2018-2019. I've been very lucky to gain experiences in many different areas and look forward to what the future brings.

Goals for the Society and/or Society Philosophy:

I believe it is extremely important to serve the society as both a way to give back and a way to help progress the profession as a whole. As leaders in the field, it is important to constantly be learning and growing to continue to push ourselves, our departments, and the profession to new heights. NYSRPS and our local societies are key organizations to facilitate just that.
